What is 2FA and why is it your "second padlock"?

You’ve probably heard of Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), but perhaps you haven't realized just how vital it is. Imagine your password is the key to your company's front door. 2FA is like having a security guard at that door who, after you turn the key, asks for a unique code that only you have on your phone.

Even if a hacker discovers your password (and in 2026, that’s easier than ever), they will remain locked out because they don’t have your second verification factor.

How does it work in practice?

The first factor is something you know (your password). The second factor is something you have or are:

  • App codes (Recommended): Apps like Google Authenticator generate codes that change every 30 seconds.
  • Biometrics: Your fingerprint or facial recognition on your phone.
  • SMS or Email: A code sent directly to you (while less secure than apps, it’s still better than nothing).
  • Push notifications: That message that pops up on your screen asking: "Are you the one trying to log in?".

The real danger of not using 2FA in your business

Many entrepreneurs think they are "not a target," but attacks are automated. If someone manages to access your invoicing account or your corporate email without this protection, the consequences can be disastrous:

  • Fake invoices: They can send invoices with a modified IBAN to your customers.
  • Data theft: Exporting your entire customer list and sales history.
  • Access lockout: They change your password, and you can no longer invoice, paralyzing your business.
  • Reputational damage: Imagine having to explain to your customers that their data was compromised because you didn't have an extra layer of security.

Maximum Security at Moloni ON

At Moloni ON, your security is our priority. You can enable 2FA on your account in two simple ways:

1. Via Email: Every time there is a new login, we send a code to your email.

2. Via App (The most secure): Use an app (like Google Authenticator) that generates codes even if you don't have an internet connection at that moment.

Protect what is yours. In an increasingly complex digital world, 2FA is the simplest and most effective tool to give you peace of mind, knowing that your company and customer data are shielded.
